first_imgPhoto: Firefighters work to rescue the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that overturned after it was hit by a pickup truck on 100 St./Kimberley MolinaTwo people have been injured after a two vehicle accident at the entrance to the Safeway gas station and grocery store.- Advertisement -The accident happened just after 10 a.m. Thursday.Constable Derek Rondeau of the Fort St. John RCMP says police believe a dark grey Ford pickup truck had turned off the Alaska Highway onto 100 St.The truck then collided with a grey Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV heading southbound on 100 St. that attempted to turn left into the parking lot and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.The SUV was hit on its side and overturned.Advertisement Both drivers were the lone occupants of the vehicle.Police have not said if charges are pending. Firefighters had to use extraction tools to take off the roof of the SUV and rescue the elderly female driver.Const. Rondeau says the extent of the woman’s injuries is unknown but that she was responsive, conscious and answering questions.She was transported to the Fort St. John hospital for observation.A middle-aged male driver of the pickup truck is believed to only have minor injuries but was also transported to the hospital for observation.Advertisementlast_img
